Build Confidence and Safety from the Ground Up – Master Scaffolding Safety and Inspection Skills

The Scaffolding Safety and Inspection Course is designed to equip workers, supervisors, and safety professionals with the essential knowledge and practical skills to work safely on or around scaffolds. This course also covers inspection procedures to ensure structural integrity, compliance with safety regulations, and accident prevention on site.

Course Content

1. Introduction to Scaffolding Safety

  • Importance of scaffolding in various industries

  • Common types of scaffolding systems (tube & coupler, frame, mobile, system scaffolds)

  • Legal and regulatory framework (OSHA, BS, EN, ANSI standards)

2. Roles and Responsibilities

  • Duties of scaffolders, inspectors, users, and supervisors

  • Communication and coordination on the job site

  • Permit-to-work and tagging systems

3. Scaffolding Hazards and Risk Control

  • Common hazards: collapse, falls, overloading, falling objects

  • Risk assessments and control measures

  • Environmental considerations (weather, ground stability)

4. Safe Scaffold Erection and Dismantling

  • Basic principles of scaffold assembly and dismantling

  • Working with manufacturers’ guidelines

  • Fall protection during erection work

5. Scaffold Use and Access

  • Safe access and egress to scaffolding platforms

  • Load management and material handling

  • Proper use of ladders and stair towers

6. Scaffold Inspection Procedures

  • Types of inspections: initial, daily/pre-use, and weekly

  • Key items to inspect: base plates, standards, ledgers, braces, planks, guardrails

  • Reporting procedures and unsafe condition management

7. Tagging and Documentation

  • Scaffold tagging system (Red/Yellow/Green tags)

  • Inspection records and compliance documentation

  • Scaffold handover certificate and checklists

Assessment & Certification

Written Examination – Testing knowledge on scaffold safety principles, standards, and inspections
Practical Inspection Exercise – Hands-on identification of scaffold defects and safe practices

Participants will receive a Scaffolding Safety & Inspection Certificate, demonstrating their competence in scaffold safety awareness and inspection.
