The Confined Space Entry Safety Training Course is designed for personnel who are required to enter, work in, or supervise work in confined spaces. Course Content

1. Introduction to Confined Spaces

  • Definition and examples of confined spaces

  • Types of confined spaces (open-top, enclosed, etc.)

  • Legal requirements and standards (OSHA, HSE, etc.)

2. Hazards in Confined Spaces

  • Atmospheric hazards (oxygen deficiency/enrichment, toxic gases, flammable vapors)

  • Physical hazards (engulfment, mechanical equipment, temperature extremes)

  • Biological and chemical exposure risks

3. Risk Assessment & Hazard Control

  • Identifying potential hazards

  • Pre-entry risk assessment

  • Control measures and safe systems of work

4. Entry Permit System

  • Importance of a Confined Space Entry Permit

  • Roles and responsibilities of permit issuers and receivers

  • Permit documentation and job planning

5. Atmospheric Testing & Monitoring

  • Use of gas detectors and monitors

  • Acceptable entry conditions and limits

  • Continuous monitoring and re-testing protocols

6. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

  • Selection and use of appropriate PPE

  • Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE)

  • Full body harness, helmets, and other essential gear

7. Communication & Standby Personnel

  • Importance of a trained attendant/standby person

  • Communication methods during entry

  • Emergency communication protocols

8. Rescue Planning & Emergency Procedures

  • Types of confined space rescue (non-entry, entry rescue)

  • Basic rescue equipment and setup

  • Role of rescue team and importance of drills

Assessment & Certification

Written Test – A multiple-choice or short-answer exam covering key topics
Practical Evaluation – Simulated confined space entry with proper procedures

Successful participants will receive a Confined Space Entry Safety Certificate, demonstrating competence in safe work and emergency preparedness for confined space operations.
