The Work at Height Safety Training Course is designed to provide participants with the essential knowledge and practical skills required to perform tasks at height safely and in compliance with legal and industry standards. Course Content

1. Introduction to Working at Height

  • What qualifies as “working at height”?

  • Industry standards and legal requirements (OSHA, HSE, etc.)

  • Common work-at-height incidents and case studies

2. Hazards Associated with Work at Height

  • Types of hazards: falls, dropped objects, fragile surfaces

  • Risk factors related to weather, equipment, and worker behavior

  • Identifying unsafe conditions and acts

3. Risk Assessment and Planning

  • Pre-job planning and site assessment

  • Hierarchy of controls for fall prevention

  • Safe work method statements and permit requirements

4. Fall Protection Systems

  • Types of fall protection: fall arrest, fall restraint, work positioning

  • Harnesses, lanyards, lifelines, anchor points – selection and inspection

  • Guardrails, scaffolding, mobile platforms, and ladders

5. Safe Use of Access Equipment

  • Scaffolding safety and tag systems

  • Ladder safety (portable and fixed)

  • Use of Mobile Elevated Work Platforms (MEWPs)

6. Emergency Response & Rescue

  • Planning for rescue in case of a fall

  • Suspension trauma awareness

  • Basic rescue techniques and team coordination

7. Practical Demonstration

  • Proper fitting and inspection of harnesses

  • Demonstration of fall arrest systems and safe climbing techniques

  • Simulated scenarios for hazard identification and control

Assessment & Certification

Written Test – Multiple-choice or short-answer questions to assess understanding
Practical Evaluation – Hands-on demonstration of correct work-at-height procedures and PPE usage

Participants who successfully complete the course will be awarded a Work at Height Safety Certificate, proving their competence in safe height-related operations.
